What Is Botox?
Botox is an injectable medical product produced by the Allergan which is a leading company in ophthalmic pharmaceuticals, facial aesthetic products, and neurological products. Botox is a purified protein made from clostridium botulinum bacterium, also known as a type A botulinum toxin (BTX-A).
Cosmetic and Anti-Aging uses of Botox
Botox has both cosmetic and medical applications. It has been approved both by the U.S. FDA and Health Canada for use. Physician published studies have documented the various uses of Botox for the lines between the eyebrows (glabellar lines).
Botox is also used to treat other facial wrinkles like forehead wrinkles and crow’s feet around the eyes – conditions that are known as dynamic wrinkles.
Medical uses of Botox
In the 1980s, Botox was initially used for medical purposes. The medical applications for Botox includes the facial conditions of uncontrollable blinking (blepharospasm), facial twitching (hemifacial spasm), and crossed eyes (strabismus).
Subsequently Botox was then approved for use in the treatment of excessive underarm sweating (hyperhidrosis) and other medical conditions.
